At the end of the day ~ Cairnholy

At the end of the day ~ Cairnholy

“At the end of the day ~Cairnholy”

Inspired by evening moments spent
amongst the ancient stones of Cairnholy.

A Neolithic buriel Cairn set into the hillside overlooking Wigtown Bay, SW Scotland.

A clyde chambered Cairn, meaning it has upright
stones on either side of the entrance and thought
to be one of the earliest type.

Amongst the finds from the site were a leaf shaped arrowhead and an axe with jadeite, a rare green stone that came from the Alps. The axe is held in the Royal Museum Edinburgh.

Watercolour.
